3 Legged Thing goes mobile with Iggy and The Cradle
British tripod maker 3 Legged Thing, recent winner of the Lucie Technology Awards Tripod of the Year, takes its first step into a broader, non-specialised photography market with a new tabletop tripod and smartphone holder.
The tripod is called Iggy and can be used with lens extended as a tabletop tripod or a ground-level support for compact or lightweight cameras, or with legs folded as a quick and simple handheld grip for video or even selfies.
There’s an adjustable ball head built in and this has a regular 1/4-inch screw for attaching a camera, though the Iggy could prove equally useful as a stand for a light or a microphone. It even comes with a GoPro mount as standard.
The Cradle is just called, well, The Cradle, and can be bought separately or along with the Iggy tripod as a kit. Its jaws open wide enough to accommodate smartphones as large as an iPhone 8 Plus or Samsung Galaxy 8.
The Cradle has two 1/4-inch threads, one at the end and one at the centre, for mounting a smartphone horizontally or vertically – and it folds flat when not in use for easy transportation.
Iggy and The Cradle are available for pre-order right now but go on sale officially on March 23rd 2018. Iggy will cost £19.99/$22.99, The Cradle will cost £9.99/$12.99 or you can get both together for £24.99/$27.99.
