Calibrite has launched a new ColorChecker target for both photographic use and video. The ColorChecker Passport Video 2 is designed for use with vectorscopes when shooting or in post production. It includes a 24 patch target for one-click color correction in the DaVinci Resolve video editor, but can also be used to create profiles for stills cameras with Calibrite’s Camera Calibration software.
The Passport Video 2 can be used to check exposure levels, white balance and color rendering in a specific lighting setup, and could prove especially useful where you need to ensure consistent colors between sessions, or from multiple cameras in video productions.
The Video Color target includes patches designed for vectorscopes, essential colors needed for matching multiple cameras on a a shoot and a 3-step grayscale target for exposure evaluation in camera and during post production, with white 40IRE gray and high gloss black. There’s also a neutral white balance target. The Passport Video 2 works directly with DaVinci Resolve to offer one-click color correction while editing via its 24-patch Video target.
It’s been made for a new generation of hybrid content creators who want a single portable calibration tool that can be used for both types of media.
The fold-out design incorporates a second 24-patch Classic target for stills photographers. The hard resin case opens out like a book and can be stood on any flat surface to face whatever target is needed towards the camera. It measures just 7 x 5 inches, or 125 x 90mm.
Calibrite has also released the latest version of its Calibrite PROFILER software, now fully compatible with macOS 14.0 Sonoma. When it’s used with Calibrite HL devices, you can achieve the full gamut potential of all mini-LED, LED and Apple XDR panels. Calibrite PROFILER v1.2.4 is free to all Calibrite device owners.
Passport Video 2 is available from calibrite.com and other major photo and video retailers, costing around $139/£138. You can find out more at calibrite.com.
