Panasonic Lumix S5 II and S5 IIx firmware updates available October 24

Panasonic has announced firmware updates for the Lumix S5 II and S5 IIx which will be available from October 24. The update brings the same new features to both cameras, but the firmware version numbers are different – this is Firmware Version 2.2 for the Lumix S5 II and Firmware Version 1.3 for the S5 IIx.

RØDE releases the NT-USB+ ‘next generation’ desktop USB mic

This is the sort of mic you would put on a desktop for YouTube videos or podcasts, or on a stand for music performances or speeches. It connects digitally to a computer via USB, as opposed to camera mics which typically use analog 3.5mm jacks.

Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | C now comes in Fujifilm X-mount

The Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary is already available in a Sony E-mount version, where it makes a portable and affordable constant aperture standard zoom for Sony’s APS-C cameras. Well now Sigma has launched an X-mount version of this lens, which could be a great option for Fujifilm owners who want to step up to a constant aperture f/2.8 pro-spec lens without the weight and expense of the Fujifilm XF16-55mm.

Pentax KF is launched… but why?

Pentax has a launched yet another 24MP APS-C DSLR. Normally I’d be celebrating a new DSLR, but with Pentax it’s a different story. For years now, it’s been recyling the same basic 24MP sensor in countless different guises, and even as Pentax fan I have to admit my remaining interest in this brand is waning.

DJI Osmo Action 3 launched on the same day as the GoPro Hero11 Black

GoPro Hero11 range announced with three new options

The GoPro Hero11 Black is the top model, and there will also be a Hero11 Black Creator Edition plus a lower-cost Hero11 Black Mini. Key upgrades include a new, larger sensor, 10-bit color depth, a “widest ever” field of view on a GoPro Hero and the best stabilization yet.
