Yes it looks marvellous. Yes, everything is better. Yes, it does everything we wished the original Lumix S5 did, notably phase-detect autofocus. But how come it can still only record 4K 60p in a Super35 crop? Why are we still putting up with this in 2023 in an apparently semi-pro video camera?
Panasonic
Panasonic is best known for its electronics and white goods, but it's also a successful camera maker. It joined forces with Olympus to pioneer the Micro Four Thirds format, and makes its own successful line of cameras – it's particularly strong in the enthusiast/pro video market.
The whole camera news cycle is broken: here’s why
Once upon a time (as all the best folk tales begin), camera launches were simple. A maker announced a camera, the secret was out, you could buy it straight away – or at least order it. Now, after years of reporting on camera launches and reviewing cameras, I do think that the whole camera product cycle has slowly but inexorably descended into chaos.
Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 Asph. review
Verdict: 4.5 stars The Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 Asph. is cheap to buy so you may not be expecting very much, and the lightweight plastic feel doesn’t give a very good first impression. But the image quality is really very good indeed, the AF is fast, and this lens is so small and light you’ll hardly notice you’re carrying it. This lens is a real eye-opener!
