This is the sort of mic you would put on a desktop for YouTube videos or podcasts, or on a stand for music performances or speeches. It connects digitally to a computer via USB, as opposed to camera mics which typically use analog 3.5mm jacks.
The NT-USB+ is a new addition to RØDE’s USB range, a professional mic that’s a development of the existing NT-USB model.
If you want to see it in action, check out this official RØDE NT-USB+ video.
RØDE NT-USB+ key features
The NT-USB+ has a ‘studio-grade’ condenser capsule wit a tight cardioid polar pattern. It’s designed for vocals, speech and instruments. It incorporates a low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamp with 24-bit/48kHz analog-to-digital conversion. An APHEX-powered internal digital signal processor includes a compressor, noise gate and ‘Aural Exciter’ and ‘Big Bottom’ effects.
The NT-USB+ also has its own headphone output for zero-latency (delay-free) audio monitoring with level and mix controls, and comes complete with a pop filter and desktop mount.
RØDE has designed the NT-USB+ to be ‘simple, portable and versatile’. The USB output means you can use it directly with Mac or Windows computers (there’s a RØDE Central companion app) and Android and iOS mobile devices.
It incorporates a tripod mount for desktop use, but can also be attached to a stand. The RØDE NT-USB+ is available now and costs $169.
